MEXICO CITY -- Mexico coach Jose Manuel De la Torre was fired and replaced by Luis Fernando Tena on Saturday within hours of an embarrassing home loss to Honduras in World Cup qualifying. Mexico lost 2-1 to Honduras on Friday, only its second ever loss in World Cup qualifying matches at Estadio Azteca, and the first since 2001 when Costa Rica won a match remembered in Mexico as the "Aztecazo." The Mexican federation wasted little time after the match firing De la Torre and choosing his replacement, as it sent out a press release with the details at about 3 a.m. on Saturday. Tena, who was one of De la Torres top assistants, has won the Mexican league twice and guided Mexico to the gold medal at the London Olympics, one of the biggest sports achievements in Mexicos history.
